Jacou releases cover on Shanice hit “I Love Your Smile” from 1991

The Swedish producer Jacou has previously remixed artists like Zara Larsson, Icona Pop, Kim Cesarion and Lucas Nord & Tove Lo.

“Ever since I first heard the song like 15 years ago or so, I’ve always found it special and different. It has that 90’s feel to it which is groovy and gives a positive vibe. I just felt it was time to give it a more modern ‘dance music take’ with classic house piano in the verses and horns AND STRINGS in the chorus melody but still keep some of the old school feel to it, with classic house piano in the verses and horns in the chorus melody. I’ve heard a few other cover versions of it that takes on a more tropical house sound, a sound that for me just didn’t sit right with the song.”

“I wanted to create sounds that I love and I have always loved 90’s hip hop and R’nB. Dance music has also been a big part of my life, so my initial goal was to make a blend of the two. I started playing around with some 90’s R’nB-songs and got my talented girlfriend to cut the vocals. The result of which later became my first single I Love Your Smile.”
