Rifan Kalbuadi – 5207

Rifan Kalbuadi was beset by grief due to the passing of his loved ones. They were experiences that left a mark on him… and his music.

These emotional episodes became the fuel to the flame that led Rifan to write his latest single, “5207”. Akin to a personal blog or a diary, it is a song that encapsulates his feelings regarding the experience.

Born in February 27th, 1995, Rifan’s career started out by performing cover songs of his idols, such as Ed Sheeran, which he started in 2014. His videos were watched by many, with an average of 4,000 views per video. Impressive numbers for a newcomer.

In 2017 he released his first EP, Statis, which comprised of four songs that based on his own life experience.

“I have always wanted my songs to be simple yet relatable to the issues that I have experienced in the real world,” he said.

Having had almost a yearlong post-EP-promo hiatus, in 2018 Rifan started to work on his new materials. Still based on his experiences, most of the materials were dealing with losses, grievance and the struggle of letting go. Musically, Rifan had move onto the new direction.

March 2020 saw the release of Rifan’s new single Temporary Hours. Combining his poem-wise lyrics which always been his signature with Bon Iver-ish lo-fi dream-pop arrangements, it instantly grabbed the attention of his loyal audience while also reached the new ones before the COVID-19 pandemic hit hard.

December 2020, Rifan will be back with 5207 another new single that has the same excitement with its predecessor.
