“Freedom’s Captive” is about our growing addiction to our devices, whether it’s cell phones, computers, tablets, social media and so on, and this obsession and need for acquiring likes and followers in today’s web of virtual existence. It’s a compounding obsession in a lot of cases where we have all this freedom and ability to exist and do what we want virtually now, but at the same time are becoming captives to it!
Collins and Streiss are a duo from Toronto, Canada.
As experienced musicians, performers and composers, Mark Collins and Anton Streiss have joined forces to refine their combined skills and vision for their own unique musical collaboration. Anton and Mark share unique personal histories as musicians growing up in Richmond Hill, Ontario. After playing in competing bands as teenagers, they now find themselves working together after decades of individual development as musicians.
Mark and Anton share a passion for composition. Growing up in the 60s and 70s was pivotal in their musical development. As Rock and Roll evolved into the Psychedelic Era, both were galvanized by the love of great music. With so many enduring songs and performers to inspire them, Collins and Streiss are determined to carry the torch of writing and performing unforgettable songs.
Freedom’s Captive” is the duos 10th release to date. It’s a song with lots of energy, forward momentum, memorable melodies and hooks. Collins and Streiss have once again worked with regulars Davide DiRenzo and David Dawe, and have introduced Rob Vendrasco into the mix in this latest endeavor doing lead guitar.
With more songs in the works, it is obvious that each Collins and Streiss song is a uniquely crafted entity and will please listeners in various genres.
